Sbrinz
is
a very hard textured cheese from Switzerland that is produced using raw cow's
milk and through a long ripening process. This cheese is produced in 42 cheese
factories in the Swiss valleys and mountains.
Sbrinz cheese is one of
Switzerland's oldest cheeses. This cheese has been produced since Roman times
and brought to the Roman city of Switzerland as a stock for the Roman soldiers.
This cheese is referred to as Caseus Helveticus by Gaius Plinius Secundus or
Pliny in his writing in early AD.
This cheese is round and
weighs between 20 to 45 kilograms. The diameter of the cheese is between 50 to
71 centimeters and about 14 centimeters in height. The skin color of this
cheese is golden yellow or brown. The inside of this cheese is pale yellow and
dry.
