Pitta (/ unsupported input) pɪtə / pi-tə)
is a spherical round bread that is widely consumed in a variety of Middle
Eastern, Mediterranean, and Balkan dishes. This bread is famous in Greece, the
Balkans, the Levant, the Arabian Peninsula, and Turkey. The air sacs in this
ribbon are created by the moisture that develops the dough. When the bread is
cold and thin, the air sacs form in the middle.
