Chabichou or
Chabichou du Poitou is a soft-textured cheese from France made with
unpasteurized goat milk first. This cheese comes from the Haut-Poitou area in
western France.
The texture of the cheese is
solid while it tastes like a peanut. The characteristic that stands out from
this cheese is its cone-shaped shape cut off at the top. This cheese height is
6 centimeters in diameter 5 to 6 centimeters and weighs about 6 ounces.
As long as the cheese is
matured it feels to be stronger but not sharper. On the surface of this cheese
skin is a mushroom that is white or blue. According to legend, Chabichou cheese
comes from Arab tribes in the 8th century. The word Chabi, which stands for
Chabichou, comes from the word Chebli, which is Persian meaning
"goat".
