Lies
(also called falsehoods) are a type of fraud in the form of false statements,
especially with the intent to deceive others, often with a further intention to
keep a secret or reputation, a sense of protecting a person or to avoid
punishment or repulsion for one act.
Lying is declaring something
that knows not true or that a dishonest person believes to be true with the
intention that someone will bring him to the truth. A liar is a person who
lies, who has previously been lying, or is inclined by nature to lie repeatedly
- even when not needed.
Lying is usually used to
refer to fraud in Oral or Written Communication. Other forms of fraud, such as
disguise or Counterfeiting, are usually not considered lies, although the
underlying intentions may be the same. However, even actual statements can be
used to deceive. In this situation, it is the whole purpose of lying rather
than the truthfulness of the statement of every individual who is considered a
lie.
