Many say Bak kut teh was born in Port Klang Malaysia in the early 20th century. However the validity of this data is still disputed. And because Malaysia is ahead of us in terms of promotion and commercialization, the fact that Port Klang as the origin of Bak kut teh has been worldwide. In Indonesia itself, Bak kut tea is popular as Chinese food in Riau Archipelago.
