Johar or juar is the name of a kind of hardwood producing tree which belongs to the tribe of Fabaceae (= Leguminosae, legumes). Trees often grown as street shading are also known by similar names, such as juwar (Btw., Jw., Sd.), Or johor (Mly.).

In Java is often also called teak wesi. In Sumatra, this tree is also called persuasion or dulang. In English this plant is called by some names such as black-wood cassia, blackwood banana, kassod tree, Siamese senna and others. Its scientific name, siamea, refers to its native land, Siam or Thailand.
