Jernang is a resin produced from several rattan species from the Daemonorops genus. These red resins have long been traded and used as dyes, incense, and traditional medicinal materials. Primarily generated from Sumatra and Kalimantan, the name in various areas of which are jernang, jerenang, jeranang, jeronang, and others.



In foreign languages, this resin is known as dragon blood or dragon's blood (Ingg.); drakenbloed (Bld.); sangre de drago (Prc.); sanguis draconis, and others. In the meantime, outside Indonesia, dragon's blood is also obtained from plants other than rattan jernang; from the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and South America.
