Baumkuchen or
"Tree Cake" is a popular German cake that is popular during important
celebrations and weddings. Shaped like a tower with uneven rings plated white
or black chocolate. This cake originated from the town of Salzwedel in Germany
and was invented in 1820. Baumkuchen was made of butter layers arranged on a
round of wood in front of the fire. It needs special expertise to build 15
layers of mixed material types which are then cut to form tree branches.
