Pancakes (Dutch: pannenkoek) is a pancake made from flour, chicken eggs, sugar and milk. The ingredients are mixed with water to form a thick dough fried over a flat pan smeared with oil.

Once cooked, pancakes can be served when still warm or after a cold. This cake is eaten with extra butter and maple syrup, jam, or honey. In addition, pancakes are also often eaten with cheese, berries, and sliced meats (bacon or ham).

The dough is usually mixed with developer ingredients such as baking powder, baking soda, yeast, beer, or egg whites. A good pancake is usually a "mild" pancake because it contains air trapped in the dough. The dough is not too much stirred so the cake is not hard. When pouring the dough, a frying pan is placed over a towel or a damp cloth. The surface temperature of the pan went down, and the bottom of the pancake after it was cooked to golden yellow. As a substitute for milk, the dough can use buttermilk, yoghurt, or soy milk.

Around the world, there are various varieties of pancakes. Poffertjes is one of a small variety of pancakes. Crêpe is one of a variety of pancakes made into very thin sheets. Depending on the local tradition, these pancakes can be eaten using knives and forks, or eaten by hand.
