Nam phrik is a typical Thai spicy sauce or spice. Nam phrik is a generic language used in Thailand to call spicy condiment.

The materials used for nam phrik are fresh chili, garlic, onion, lemon and some kind of fish or shrimp paste. Sambal is made in the traditional way that the material is pounded together using cobek and ulekan. To add flavor usually nam phrik plus salt or fish sauce.

Nam phrik is usually served on small dishes beside main dishes such as raw or boiled vegetables, fish, poultry and meat. Depending on the type, region and family that prepare it, nam phrics may vary in texture from liquids or solids.
