Depression is a medical condition of sadness that negatively impacts one's thoughts, actions, feelings, and mental health. The condition of depression is a temporary normal reaction to life events such as the loss of a loved one.


Depression can also be a symptom of a physical illness and side effects of medication use and certain medical treatments. In relation to other mental disorders, depression can also be a symptom of psychiatric disorders such as major depressive disorders and distimia.


Someone in a state of depression generally experiences feelings of sadness, anxiety, or empty; they also tend to feel trapped in conditions of no hope, no help, full of rejection, or feelings of worthlessness. Other symptoms that may arise are feelings of guilt, irritability, or anger. Furthermore, depressed individuals may also feel embarrassed or anxious.


In addition to mood swings, individuals with symptoms of depression tend to lose interest in performing activities that he or she previously thought were fun; loss of appetite or otherwise, eat with excess portion. Patients will also be difficult to concentrate, remember general details, make decisions, or have difficulty in dealing with others. These experiences can encourage individuals to attempt suicide.


Symptoms of Insomnia, Hipersomnia, fatigue, pain, digestive disorders, and decreased stamina are also often found in individuals under depression .
