Chapati (sometimes spelled chapatti, chappati, chapathi, or chappathi), also known as bread, safati, shabaati and roshi (in the Maldives), is a kind of unleavened and flat bread from Subbenua India and is a common staple food in India, Nepal , Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Chapati is made from whole wheat flour known as atta, salt and water, then cooked on a tava (wok flat).


This food is a staple food common in South Asia as well as for expatriates and South Asian immigrants in different parts of the world. This food is also introduced by Indian merchants in Central Asia, Southeast, East Africa, and the Caribbean Islands.
