Berliner is
a typical German donut type, also known as Pfannkuchen in Berlin, Kreppel in
Hessen, Krapfen in southern Germany. The dons containing this jelly is a famous
and distinctive cake festival in Germany. Berliner caused a popular joke when
John F. Kennedy pronounced "Ich bin ein Berliner" during a speech
during his visit to Berlin in 1963. K

express solidarity with the citizens of Berlin during the Cold War, which
translates to "I am a jelly donut" ("I am a jelly donut").
In the carnival season (German dialect: Fasching, Karneval or Fastnacht),
Berliner is sold alongside other popular snack foods and can be found with a
variety of contents such as jam, vanilla cream and chocolate.
