instant coffee - www.healthnote25.com |
Instant
coffee, also called instant coffee and ground coffee, is a
beverage derived from brewed beans. Instant coffee is generally produced for
commercial purposes, either through frozen drying or spray drying, and afterwards
it can be rehydrated. Instant coffee in concentrated liquid form is also
produced.
Examples of popular instant
coffee brands are MikiCafe, Extra, Folgers, Maxwell House, Nescafé, and
Starbucks VIA.
The advantage of instant
coffee is the speed at which it presents (instant coffee can be dissolved in
hot water), lower weight and volume in shipment when compared to coffee beans,
and more durable.
Instant coffee was invented
and patented in 1890 by David Strang of Invercargill, New Zealand, with patent
number 3518.
